The Master of Audiology and Speech Language Pathology (MASLP) is a post graduate level course affiliated to the University of Kerala and recognised by the Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI). The total number of seats is 10. Minimum educational requirement for admission to the course will be Bachelor of Audiology and Speech Language Pathology (BASLP) from any recognised university with minimum pass percentage as per University norms. The curriculum consists of theory and practical classes in the field of Speech-Language Pathology, Audiology and allied subjects such as Linguistics, Statistics etc. The total duration of this post graduate degree Program consists of four semesters.

Bachelor of Audiology & Speech Language Pathology (BASLP)

The Bachelor of Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology is a graduate level course affiliated to the University of Kerala and recognized by the Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI). Its main aim is to generate skilled and efficient manpower to work effectively with persons having communication disorders. They have opportunities to work in hospitals, special schools, speech and hearing institutes, hearing instrument manufacturing industry, government and non-government agencies working for the disabled as well as to do independent practice. Excellent opportunities await abroad for higher studies and practice. Successful candidates will be awarded the Bachelor Degree by the University of Kerala.

BASLP Admission at NISH to Use NEET SCORES

Admission to Bachelor of Audiology and Speech Language Pathology (BASLP) course conducted at NISH will use NEET 2017 (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test) scores from 2017-18 academic year onwards. BASLP course at NISH is approved by Rehabilitation Council of India. NISH has been accredited as “Excellent Institution” by RCI and has been successfully running the course since 2002.

The BASLP course prepares professionals who work as Audiologists and Speech Therapists.

Eligibility criteria: The candidate applying for admission to BASLP should have:
a) Passed Government recognized 10+2 examination or an equivalent examination securing a minimum of 50% marks. For candidates belonging to SC/ST or Persons with disabilities (PwD), the minimum marks is a pass.
b) The applicant/candidate should have studied Physics, Chemistry, Biology and any one of Mathematics / Computer Science / Statistics / Electronics / Psychology.
c) All candidates who want to apply for admission at NISH for BASLP should write the NEET 2017 examination and the scores should be reported along with the application form. The rank list will be prepared on the basis of NEET scores.
Other details for admission will be available with the prospectus which will be published on the NISH website when the admissions are open for 2017-18. Prospective students are requested to check the NISH admissions website admissions.nish.ac.in The admissions are expected to start in last week of May, 2017.

Degree HI (BSc (CS) (HI), BFA (HI) & B.Com (HI))

NISH is the first Institution in the country to propose new degree courses exclusively for students with hearing impairment. The courses are BSc (CS) (HI), BFA (HI) & B.Com (HI). The scheme and syllabus have been so designed that there is substantial practical content and less theory. The University of Kerala has given affiliation and would award degree to successful candidates. The program is innovative and is expected to fulfil the long felt dreams of students with hearing impairment for higher education.

Diploma in Indian Sign Language Interpreting (DISLI)

The Diploma in Indian Sign Language Interpreting (DISLI) is a diploma course introduced by the Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI) from 2002. NISH has been approved as a recognised centre for the conduct of the course by RCI. The main aim of the course is to generate qualified and professional interpreters . The successful candidates from the diploma course will be eligible to be appointed as interpreters. RCI will provide the certificate of registration.


Diploma in Early Childhood Special Education (Hearing Impairment) (DECSE(HI))

The Diploma in Early Childhood Special Education (Hearing Impairment),(DECSE(HI)) is a diploma course introduced by the Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI) from 2001. NISH has been approved as a recognised centre for the conduct of the course by RCI. The main aim of the course is to generate qualified professionals for the Early Intervention program. The Early Intervention program which is getting increased attention requires large number of qualified teachers. The successful candidates from the diploma course will be eligible to be appointed as teachers. RCI will provide the certificate of registration.
