3) Are there any hostel facilities available?

No, NISH does not provide any hostel facility.

5) Does NISH provide seats for foreign candidates? And in which programme?

Yes, NISH does have seats for foreign students for BASLP (Bachelor of Audiology and Speech Language Pathology)and MASLP (Master of Audiology and Speech Language Pathology) programmes.

6) Programme duration?

BASLP - 4 years (3 yrs. classroom education and 1 yr. compulsory internship)

BCom(HI)- 4 yrs

7) Mode of applying?

Candidates can apply online through website http://admissions.nish.ac.in

8) Admission procedure?

DECSE(HI) - merit basis
BASLP - On the basis of qualifying examination marks secured by the candidate
MASLP - On the basis of entrance examination conducted by NISH
Degree (HI) - On the basis of entrance examination conducted at NISH namely DACE

9) Seat divisions?

Degree (HI)- 90 seats

BASLP - 28 seats 50% of the seats are merit seats and remaining are Second Merit seats.

MASLP - 10 seats 50% of the seats are merit seats and remaining are Second Merit seats.

DECSE(HI) - 25 seats

Reservation for SC/ST shall be as per University / RCI norms.


10) Portions for DACE?

8th Standard English and Mathematics as well as Logical Ability.

11) I would like to know about the admission criteria for the year 2017-18?

BASLP:

Minimum educational requirements for admissions to this programme will be a pass in plus two /pre degree/12th standard or its equivalent from any Board or University in India, recognized as equivalent for admission to a degree programme in the University of Kerala. The candidate must have secured a minimum of 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics/Biology/Computer science / Statistics/Psychology. For SC/ST and persons with disabilities the minimum marks is a pass.

MASLP:

Minimum educational requirements for admissions to this programme will be Bachelor of Audiology and Speech Language Pathology from any recognized University or any other degree recognized by the RCI and Kerala University as equivalent thereto, with minimum pass percentage required as per university norms

DECSE(HI):

Graduate with minimum 50% marks in 10 + 2 or equivalent examination from any board or university in India.

Degree (HI):

Admission is restricted to those who are hearing impaired, as defined in “The Persons with Disabilities (Equal Opportunities, Protection of Rights and Full Participation) Act, 1995”. Hearing Impairment means loss of 60 dB or more in the better ear in the conversational range of frequencies.

An entrance examination (DACE) will also be conducted for the purpose of Degree (HI) admission. Bachelor of Fine Arts (HI) candidates will have to pass an aptitude test in drawing.

12) How far is NISH from Trivandrum Central??

NH 66 - 10.6 kms.
Kaithamukku Petta Rd and NH 66 Bypass - 10.3 kms.

13) Admission criteria for Second Merit seat:

Second Merit admission is also based on NEET rank / Entrance rank. A seat cannot be blocked or booked in this category

14) Should the internship certificate be produced at the time of admission for MASLP?

Yes, it has to be produced at the time of admission.

15) Who issues the certificate for the DECSE(HI)?

For DECSE(HI) the certificate is issued by RCI and other programmes are issued by the Kerala University.

16) Is there any scholarship available at NISH?

It is not available at the initial stage. The scholarship is based on the academic performance of the student in each semester.

17) Are there any sports facilities available at NISH?

Facilities for Badminton, Caroms, Chess, Table Tennis and basketball are available. Volley ball court, indoor cricket court and gym and fitness centre are getting ready.
